Thoughts & Opinions

I have been very aware recently that everyone is in transition. That is probably a very obvious thing to say. It is September, summer is turning to autumn, days are getting shorter so there is no light in the morning to wake you up, the weather is getting colder, people are going back to school/university and new projects are springing up everywhere now that the holidays are over. The strange thing about it is that no one has really been ready, or aware of this transition until it is too late. I have heard so many people say how exhausted […]

Time for transition

I am currently performing in a site specific piece of Theatre called M0028 (those are zeroes rather than the noise a cow makes), written by Turkish writer Kadri Ozcan, directed by Emel Holifield, designed by Sarah Warren and produced by SanaRt Theatre. The setting is a bunker, inhabited by Adam in a post-apocalyptic future brought on by major climate change catastrophes. Most people remained ignorant of the impacts of human activities (not too far from the truth, right?) until it was too late. I play Emma a young woman who is the assistant of Ethel, the wealthy woman who bought the […]

M0028: Future or fantasy

If you have not read this essay by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie I strongly urge you to do so, it is an adaptation of her TedxEuston talk and it is only 48 short pages long. Men don’t be put off, the word feminism applies to you too, but I’m sure you know that by now.     I know I am late to the game on this one, feminism is something that I haven’t written about much, however it is something that I care about both for personal reasons but also because I hold a strong belief that our societies would […]

We should all be feminists

Happy Easter everyone! I was meant to be going away for the day today, I’d blocked out a trip to the beach with my Auntie and Uncle because I felt like it was important to share some time with them and be with family on Easter day. Unfortunately, I felt atrocious when I woke up this morning and I am still not feeling great, so instead of spending 5 hours driving I have spent most of the day sleeping. I did find sometime to take a walk from my house and take some springtime photos. In the spirit of Easter […]

Happy Easter

About a month ago I was nominated for a Liebster award by Aimee at  inkylady79’s blog, and as part of accepting the nomination I have to nominate more bloggers and ask them a series of questions. The answers to the questions that Aimee posed for me are in my I got Nominated for a Liebster Award blog so check them out because they were a thought provoking set of questions. I have finally got around to posting some of my own. So, the “Liebster Award is a chain award created by bloggers and passed on from one blogger to another to encourage […]

Liebster award follow up

So, the “Liebster Award is a chain award created by bloggers and passed on from one blogger to another to encourage connections. It is a wonderful, fun way to interact and make friends in the blogging community.” These are the rules: 1. Thank and link the person who nominated you. 2. Answer the questions given by the nominator. 3. Nominate 11 other bloggers, who have less than 200 followers and link them. 4. Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer. 5. Notify all nominees via social media/blogs. I would like to thank inkylady79’s blog for my nomination. So here goes, […]

I got nominated for a Liebster Award

Earlier today a friend of mine challenged me to give up sweets for a week. Always one to step up to a challenge, I have surrendered to the task and decided to keep away from the haribo, bon bons, fruit pastilles, fried eggs, sour cherries, jelly babies, dolly mixture, hard gums……oh my mouth is watering! Now, I’m not quite sure what the rules are for this challenge so I guess that I should lay down the guidelines for myself: 1. No pick-n-mix even the chocolate ones; 2. Obviously no gummy, boiled, liquorice or sherbet sweets; 3. Chocolate or cakes not allowed – I don’t tend […]

Sweet surrender

Happy International Women's Day from Becky Sage
I have so much to say on this subject, but one thing about women is that we are not one thing. The women who I admire most are those who are open and honest about who they are in all their beautiful contradictions: I am sensitive I am thoughtful I am proud I am strong I am flexible I am hardworking I am relentlessly trying to be a better person I am empathetic I am energetic I am high-pitched I am petite I am aware of what you want from me I am aware of what you need I am […]

Happy International Women’s Day

A photo posted by becky (@faerietwink) on Mar 7, 2015 at 5:26am PST   In January and February I spent a period of time when I blogged everyday as part of “Come Blog With Me”. However, since the challenge stopped I have struggled to write and post, in fact I have struggled to even decide whether or not to write. This says a lot about me as a person, when I have someone watching me or some kind of validation to say “you should do that” then I just get my head down and get on with things, I don’t […]

Why do I need to write?

So this blog was going to be about how rubbish I am at being ill, but Lottie Lane got there first and posted a similar blog yesterday, so instead this is a how to guide, for myself, and anyone else who is trying to get through these horrible winter illnesses. I will describe some of the annoying behaviours I show when I am ill and how I might try to do it better next time. Bloody hell, I’m such a perfectionist I even have to plan how to be ill better! Right now I seem to be suffering with the […]

How to get through a virus….

For today’s Friday Favourites, I decided to focus on the Watershed, or more accurately why its amazing to be a resident of the Pervasive Media Studio. 1. The people The Pervasive Media Studio is FULL of driven, talented, people who think differently and who want to share and collaborate. The people and projects here all fall into the category of being in the Digital/Creative space. There are so many opportunities to have interesting conversations and develop interesting projects, businesses and products. There is just a never ending supply of energy, acceptance and dynamism – I love it. The team that run the […]

Friday Favourites – Why it is amazing to work at ...

Isn’t discovering things amazing? Sometimes it can be as simple and random as realising just how good vacuum bags are at storing clothes! My brain has been hazy to say the least at the moment, so having moments where everything comes together and just makes sense is amazing. I think that it is a common misconception that discovery is about being an explorer or doing science, and that is a part of it but it doesn’t have to mean just that. I was running a workshop in a school last week and I asked a bunch of nine year old […]
